Just recently I discovered how utterly heartbreaking Prague is. I haven’t exactly been there but judging with the pictures just keeps me breathless. The city is full an historical locations and their architecture is very detailed and ancient. I’m quite pleased that this types of buildings are still intact. I would make this on my list as I keep on searching for more. One of Prague’s Towers is the Powder Gate. Location
The Powder Tower is located at the edge of Old Town, right next to the Municipal House .
The Powder Gate can trace its origins back to the 11th century, when the original gate was one of 13 entrances to Prague’s Old Town.
Work on the present structure began during the reign of King Vladislav II in 1475 and was modeled on the Old Town Bridge Tower, built a century earlier.
The Tower was actually known as s the New Tower, its name was changed to the Powder Gate in the 17th century when it was used to store gunpowder. Today Prague has been on the top list of travelers around the world. It is also possible to climb the 186 steps inside to reach the viewing platform at 44 meters, to enjoy views over the Old Town
The tower stands as a breathtaking beauty around Prague and tourist alike. Personally, the grandeur of the towers keeps the olden days alive.
