The challenge asked the San Francisco airport hotel and others to measure occupancy statistics, monetary and energy expenditures, and return on investment (ROI) from specific green practices, and the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport hotel excelled in the areas of reducing waste sent to landfills by 1/3, gas consumption reduced by 5%, and water consumption reduced by 6% over 2008.
